Word 2007 spelling probs.?

word 2007 does not underline misspelled words or grammar. all it does is capitalize the first letter. i went to options and unchecked the options "hide spelling errors in this doent" and "hide grammar errors in this doent" i hit ok, and then it automatically unchecks, its really annoying, can someone please help
