Have you ever gotten anyone to switch parties?

I was just wondering if anyone has actually gotten someone to accept their way of thinking and switch their stance on an issue or switch parties. I ask, because my family is lifelong Republicans and I am a Democrat, but I have gotten several of my family members looking at Obama. They like his message of ending partisan politics and uniting our country. Has anyone else ever been successful in changing someone's stance/ party affiliation?
