28 weeks...sharp pain and cramping?

So I am 28 weeks, and the last few days I have really bad lower back aches, and sharp pains that sometimes feel like menstraul cramps. like you get right before you ovulate. The sharp pains yesterday were steady and frequent today they are spaced out but more painfull. should I be concerened and call my OB?
