How do i tell my mom i want to wear makeup?

Im not in 9th grade and just want to start wearing like mascara and maybe eyeliner. i know how to put the makeup on correctly and i know i won't put too much on so i look like a tramp. But how do i ask my mom? I just think it is kind of awkard to ask her this because she never brings it up and when i was little she disapproved of makeup on any girl..... i don't know if her feelings for it as changed. i look really good with just mscara and eyeliner though (my friend has done it for me before) how do i tell my mom i want to wear makeup?
