Laffy taffy?

My mom was eating laffy taffy once and my cat, sammy, started to sniff at the Laffy Taffy. My mom gave him some because she didn't think sammy would eat it, he hardly eats anything that isn't catfood. And he ate it. He liked it too. So when ever my mom has laffy taffy she shares. Is that bad for sammy? He rarely eats the stuff though, like 2 or 3 times a year.
